Dr. Ankur Gupta is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with several qualifications to his name, including a Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO), Diplomate of the National Board (DNB), FIVR and FICO. Based in Ludhiana, Punjab, he has been working as a Vitreo-Retina Specialist at Chugh Eye Surgery Centre since December 2013, and in addition, also visits the Rani Eye Hospital in Khanna town once a week.
Dr. Ankur Gupta has a wide range of clinical skills including diagnosis and management of pathologies such as cataract, lid swellings, glaucoma; diagnosis of retinal pathologies; neuro-ophthalmology problems such as papilloedema, paretic squints, myasthenia; and, orbital disorders such as cysticercosis, pseudotumor and thyroid orbitopathy. In the retina and uvea segments, he is familiar with indirect ophthalmoscopy and +90D fundus biomicroscopy, interpretation of OCT and FFA, ultrasound scans, and the medical management of endophthalmitis, diabetic retinopathy and uveal disorders. He is adept at surgical management of vitreo-retinal disorders, 23G and 25G MIVS, ROP screening and regularly performs sutured scleral fixated IOL and sutureless glued IOL procedures. Further, he has considerable experience in the area of paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, as well as cornea, squint, glaucoma, orbit, oculoplasty, phacoemulsification, etc. He has worked on the management of anterior segment trauma, corneal, scleral tear suturing and has performed trabeculectomy, triple procedures, dacryocystorhinostomy and dacryocystectomy too.
Dr. Ankur Gupta has also been involved in academics, with active participation in journal clubs, delivering lectures, case discussions, and teaching junior residents and mid-level ophthalmic personnel. He has been a trainer for extracapsular cataract extraction and small incision cataract surgery. He has headed more than 250 teams on various outreach activities such as screening for cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, screening school students and the paediatric population for paediatric eye diseases. Further, Dr. Gupta is an active and regular participant in ophthalmology conferences at the state, national and international levels, and he has presented his papers and posters at some of these events.
